I work for a program that helps people find housing and had a 21yr old homeless client that was able to obtain an apartment through a 3-month sublease at West Run. He was very desperate for affordable housing at the time and we were managing his money for him. He was able to get a 3br apartment with 1 nice roommate that moved out shortly thereafter without prior notice.
West Run had a mix-up on THEIR END when receiving the first month's rent and counted it as late when it was actually received on time. They required a late-fee which we were LITERALLY unable to pay due to lack of funds. I attempted to discuss this with Richard Naccarato who was nice and understanding but did not have "time" to take care of it directly. I was directed to speak with Jason Swierczynski who I was told would be able to forgive the fee, but due to either a lapse in communication or simply having a desire to be difficult; Jason refused to look into the situation and demanded the payment be made anyway.
After 2 weeks a girl named Dana eventually forgave the late fee, although Jason already forced him to pay it. Luckily I was able to get some community funding to help cover this but he still had to use every bit of change he had to his name.
After the lease expired I was told by that they would "REFUSE" to offer this tenant another lease because they "FEEL TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF" due to the past "DIFFICULTIES RECEIVING A LATE FEE”. He insisted that the previous late fee "MAY HAVE BEEN WEST RUN'S FAULT BUT IT WAS THE PRINCIPLE OF THE MATTER".
At this point we began looking for another apartment but after another mix-up, a worker in the office told him that he needed to pay another FULL month's rent even though he was moving out. He mistakenly fell for this ploy, leaving him with no money once again. After talking with the office they admitted their mistake BUT SAID THEY WOULD “KEEP THE EXTRA PAYMENT IN CASE THERE WERE DAMAGES”.
After moving out we were told about "DAMAGES IN THE OTHER BEDROOMS TOTALLING $250". These bedrooms were LOCKED and not entered at ANY POINT DURING THE 3 MONTH SUB LEASE. No West Run employee at ANY POINT entered this apartment to even see the other bed rooms which had to be damaged before moving in.
Due to the timing of this, the client once again became homeless as he did not have enough money for another apartment rent + deposit. After saving for a month we began searching for housing again but before we could secure something he sadly passed away in an unfortunate accident.
This could have been avoided.

This was the worst apartment complex I have ever lived in. I would never recommend it to anyone.

Wow terrible. Everything about living here was a nightmare, roommate matching is awful. Im a grad student who was stuck with 2 sophmores who did nothing more than party 24/7. The staff would rather spit in your face then do any work, the manager is a complete jerk who threatend to have me kicked out because my roomates were too loud. They do not make repairs nor do they do any kind of snow removal. I would rather be homeless than live here again.
